Released: November 2001
This is an intimate, introspective, and emotional album with Greg Grant playing acoustic guitar, alto saxophone, and singing. Except for some background vocals the album is basically a representation of Greg's live solo act. The saxophone solos are accomplished live by looping the guitar on a Gibson Oberheimer Echoplex.
Greg wanted to keep the album pure and simple and minimally produced. It was recorded at Strawbale Studios during the winter of 2001. There isn't any fancy technological manipulation or studio tricks on this disc. Just well crafted songs soulfully sung and played by Greg. It's difficult to classify these songs into any one genre or style, but there's definitely a "folk rock" vibe to the disc. There is a lot of instrumental wizardry on guitar and saxophone that add splashes of jazz, flamenco, and a world music feel that make it very hard to call After The Crash simply a "folk rock" disc. Regardless of what style or genre it might fit into, it is a very creative recording that will transport the listener to a deep place.
