Greg Grant
We Have Eyes
July 2008
It's always difficult to try and classify Greg Grant's music - he is definitely a musician who is comfortable playing a variety of genres and he easily jumps from one to the other. This cd starts out with Greg playing slide guitar and a Rock/Acoustic Rock/Americana feel. The second song adds a Bluegrassy feel to it, by the third song he is into an African feel, ala Ali Farka Toure. Later on in the cd there are congas and dumbeks, saxophone and ebow, adding Jazz and a bit of Electronica into the list of genres he draws from. There is a lot of craftmanship and soul in all of the songs on this cd, both in the music and the lyrics. Most of "We Have Eyes" is very upbeat and earthy but by the end he takes us into a mellow, introspective, dreamy place, somewhere in outer or inner space. A great cd.

Jupiter Watches
October 2003
Organic and original genre crossing rock. Funky, jazzy, soulful, sometimes folky, sometimes electronic; psychedelic and full of feeling. This is an album that has a full sound but doesn't suffer from overproduction. Once again Greg played guitar, saxophone and sang with James Whiton on double bass and Guido Perla on drums. Many of the songs were recorded in the moment, capturing the feeling of three great musicians in a room just doing what they love to do - playing music. It's a rock album, but all three musicians are well versed in jazz and improvisation and this freedom definitely comes through. This is almost like an album and a half - the first ten songs feature the band playing upbeat songs, and the next five songs are just Greg, taking the listener deep inside. In this time of computerization and plastic disposable music, this is an album of real musicians playing real music with a real message.

Bisbe Street
November 2002
Greg Grant on saxophone, monster bass player Mr. James Whiton, along with the incredibly talented Mr. Guido Perla on drums... A guest appearance by Mr. Billy Oskay on violin as well as his talents as producer and engineer make this a great recording both musically and technically.
"The songs on this CD were all born in Barcelona, Spain. I lived there off and on between 1994 and 1999. Because of the generosity of the people there, and their love of life and music, I was able to live happily for a few years playing these songs on the street. My favorite spot was near an arch on Bisbe Street, near the cathedral. I usually played there at nighttime, my favorite time to play. Really, it was more like playing in a concert hall built with cobblestones and bricks than playing on the street of a city. It was quiet, no cars went by, really, and the acoustics were great. People would stop and listen and end up sitting down to stay awhile. I am very grateful for my time in Barcelona so I wanted the title and artwork of this CD to be about this magical city. It's a place I know I will always return to, one way or another..."

After The Crash
November 2001
This is an intimate, introspective, and emotional album with Greg Grant playing acoustic guitar, alto saxophone, and singing. Except for some background vocals the album is basically a representation of Greg's live solo act. The saxophone solos are accomplished live by looping the guitar on a Gibson Oberheimer Echoplex.
Greg wanted to keep the album pure and simple and minimally produced. It was recorded at Strawbale Studios during the winter of 2001. There isn't any fancy technological manipulation or studio tricks on this disc. Just well crafted songs soulfully sung and played by Greg. It's difficult to classify these songs into any one genre or style, but there's definitely a "folk rock" vibe to the disc. There is a lot of instrumental wizardry on guitar and saxophone that add splashes of jazz, flamenco, and a world music feel that make it very hard to call After The Crash simply a "folk rock" disc. Regardless of what style or genre it might fit into, it is a very creative recording that will transport the listener to a deep place.

MUSTH
Musth
November 1994
This is an adventurous, experimental album. It is very image provoking and would make great film music. Musth is Jon Bernson playing drums and percussion and Greg Grant playing nylon string guitar and alto saxophone. The spirit of this recording was total spontaneity and freedom. Greg and Jon improvised freely in the studio without any preconceived ideas. After a bulk of material was recorded, they picked out the magical moments that they liked. Some were good enough "as is". Others warranted overdubbing, also improvised, and ended up as multi-layered sonic excursions.
This is the kind of music you want to put on in a darkened room or for when you're driving at night. It goes deep and will take you into your subconscious... Some of the places it takes you are marvelous, indeed. This music is pure; it comes straight from its source, passing through Jon and Greg, but it's way beyond them. This is truly channeled music in the sense that neither Jon nor Greg consciously played it, but allowed it to flow out of them.
"In the languages of northern India, Musth (from a word of Persian origin) translates as 'a state of intoxication'. It is used to describe altered behavior in either humans or elephants. Various Sanskrit words used to describe this state come from the word mada, which can mean "hilarity", "rapture", "excitement", "sexual enjoyment", "lust", or "inspiration".
